What is the ADOS-2 ?
The ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2) is a semi-structured, standardized assessment of communication, social interaction, play and restricted and repetitive behaviors. It presents various activities that elicit behaviors directly related to a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. By observing and coding these behaviors, experienced and ADOS-2 trained clinicians can obtain information that informs diagnosis, treatment planning, educational placement and career choices. It is administered in different modules depending on the cognitive age of the individual and can be administered to children and adults.
What is the ADI-R?
When administering the ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Inventory-Revised) an experienced clinician questions a parent or caretaker familiar with the developmental history, behaviors, social interaction and communication skills and uses standardized procedures to code the responses.
When used in combination, The ADOS-2 and the ADI-R have the highest accuracy when diagnosing autism spectrum disorders according to the latest research (European Child and Adoles-cent Psychiatry January 2013)
